The San Diego Police Department has started using the Nixle.com system to send out notifications. The good news is that notifications can be sent for the whole city. The downside is that the updates include everything from car accidents to bank robberies to weather alerts. We will continue to post public safety alerts here and send them out to users that have signed up for our text alerts and email notifications.

Another great resource for happenings in the 92127 4S Ranch area is Jeff Schmitt. His updates include crime alerts as well as lost pets and even rattlesnake alerts. To sign up for his email alerts, email him here. Thanks Jeff for the great resource!

Date: Friday, April 16th
Time: between about 6:30-7:00
Location: 4S Ranch Fields

Type of Occurrence: Suspicious Activity
Details: A mom went into the women’s bathroom and there was a man in a workers uniform inside the bathroom. She asked him if he was cleaning the bathroom and he said “No”. She told him he was in the women’s bathroom and he said something like “so…it doesn’t really matter”.

Bottom line there was a MAN in the WOMENS restroom and it was a VERY busy evening at the baseball/soccer park. People were every where. I was sitting at at the backstop of Moser field and would have thought nothing of sending my 7 year old into the bathroom. Not any more!

Police Report Filed: No. As far as we know the sheriff department was not informed of this event.

Over the weekend I happened to visit a local animal shelter and it got me to thinking, here are these animals that are locked up and on the outside there are people that like to run and need to be safe. What if we could find a way to pair the two up? I’m thinking that we could partner with certain rescue groups and animal shelters to get their dogs exercised and socialized and at the same time, take our running freedom back.

The basics would be that the dogs would need to have passed their K-9 Good Citizen test and the runners would need to be taught how to correctly run with a dog. From there it could be that a runner makes a reservation and meets the dog at their running location.

Maybe this already exists, but just in case it doesn’t, let me know what your ideas are.
